El Camino College steps up to benefit the community with the South Bay Promise program
We are so inspired by the work that is being done by the El Camino College Foundation and their South Bay Promise Program. This program provides free enrollment fees for up to 500 high school graduates in the South Bay who commit to attend El Camino College in the fall immediately following graduation, enroll full-time and complete the matriculation steps to help ensure success. Fifteen Street Studio has been honored to assist the Foundation in their marketing and branding efforts including their logo design and various materials to keep the community informed on this amazing program. What a great win for students and the community!
Fifteen Street loves the opening titles for The Feud: Bette and Joan
The Feud: Bette and Joan
We always notice when opening film titles are very graphic and these titles for The Feud: Bette and Joan are exceptional in our opinion. Designed and animated by Emmy-winning graphic designer Kyle Cooper, produced by Alexis Martin Woodall, and scored by Mac Quayle, we are instantly reminded of Hitchcock and James Bond titles. In fact they took their inspiration from design master Saul Bass and were inspired by the color palettes of American modernist graphic design Paul Rand and his book The Designer's Art. A Sign of the Times
The Women's March on Washington, and across the world for that matter, generated so many awesome signs and slogans. Pictured here is the White House perimeter fence where vast numbers of the signs were left behind. We are excited to read that museums were able to preserve many of the signs that were left at the end of the march to create displays to mark the importance of this monumental event. Power to the people. Yay!
Fifteen Street loves this new Photoshop TV spot
We use Photoshop almost every day at Fifteen Street but we have never seen an actual television commercial about it. So imagine our delight to see this new spot from Adobe celebrating Photoshop's 25th year. To celebrate the tool that has helped shape creativity, artists from all over the world contributed their most amazing dreams—and their working files with layers. These PSDs were then animated layer by layer to create a film made in Photoshop. Amazing!
Fifteen Street Studio is on the move!!
The big news around our shop is a move is in progress. We're relocating the studio to the Bay Area in Northern California. Fifteen Street has always loved the visual adventure that is San Francisco and we look forward to indulging on a regular basis in all that is available up there. Of course we will still be working with the same clients and hopefully some new ones as well. Our studio airstream trailer has already made the transition and is awaiting our arrival. We're excited and ready for the change! New contact info is available on our website.Paper folding in a nutshell from Terry Heffernan and Sappi Paper
When designing a brochure – long before we consider the graphics – we always start with a blank sheet of paper or a dummy as it is known. There are so many ways to fold and score paper to create beautiful and unique designs that will stand out from the crowd. The next time you think you need an 8.5 x 11 brochure, think again about all the possibilities and try something different, or better yet, call us and we'll come up with something very special for you. This lovely little film illustrating the art of paper folding and scoring for Sappi Paper, was made by Terry Heffernan Films in San Francisco, CA.
Fifteen Street loves this awesome roaming bar concept from Libations Unlimited

Imagine a roaming bar that is a completely self-contained, custom built teardrop trailer decked out with kegged cocktails for fast efficient service, a beer tap, and a customized espresso machine. Such a great concept — and now it is a reality! Inspired by the eclectic and boutique style of speakeasy bars, combined with the vintage look of teardrop trailers and fused with the warmth of wood and copper, this unique traveling bar can be rented for any event. Check out the new website and branding which were designed by Kelly Curran at www.libationsunlimited.com. "Forget Vail or the Alps — Copenhagen’s Amager Bakke power plant will soon top the list of hip ski destinations. Technically, it’s designed to turn garbage into energy via a potent incinerator, but starting in 2017, winter visitors will be able to ride an elevator up the corner and emerge into a snowy wonderland."

Hatch Show Prints. Such a great Nashville printing tradition!
If you follow music, art, and culture of the American South, sooner or later you're bound to run into the letters, images, and unmistakable "look" of Hatch Show Print. They're one of the oldest working letterpress print shops in America, and over the years their posters have featured a host of country music performers, ranging from Country Music Hall of Famers Hank Williams, Bill Monroe, and Johnny Cash to contemporary stars such as Garth Brooks and Wynonna.
"Advertising without posters is like fishing without worms."
- The Hatch Brothers
They've done it all without losing that irresistible appeal of turn-of-the-century Hatch posters, which were used to promote vaudeville, circus, and minstrel shows across the country. There's a reason why music lovers, Americana buffs, graphic arts collectors and designers, and commercial advertisers of all persuasions continue to turn to Hatch for inspiration. They are, indeed, a tonic for the information age.

Love this work by Tacklebox for Donovan Frankenreiter and Brian Bielmann
Glow: Donovan Frankenreiter & Brian Bielmann from Scott Mortensen on Vimeo.
Just ran across this video while looking at Tacklebox.com. Scott Mortensen is the Interactive Creative Director of this video which was made from over 2000 still images and absolutely no video believe it or not. The music is awesome of course and we love the great imagery and editing. This group seems like a great resource for interactive storytelling.

Designed to be customized and printed digitally as-needed, this proposal package is one that will have a long and useful life with no wasted over-runs. Let us help you create a successful package for your next presentation like this one for El Camino College Foundation.

El Camino College honors Distinguished Alumni with banners designed by Fifteen Street Studio
El Camino College Distinguished Alumni Awards took place on Saturday, October 20th. As in previous years, Fifteen Street Studio helped the El Camino College Foundation with the evening presentation by designing the invitations, program, and a video presentation. New for this year, Fifteen Street Studio was asked to design 4ft. banners representing each of the honorees. The banners will be mounted on light poles along the college walk near the campus library. Honorees this year included Astronaut Mike Fincke, Hermosa Beach Comedy and Magic Club owner Michael Lacey, Artist Anita McLaughlin, Businesswoman Candace Messer, and Musician Chris Montez. The evening was a great success.
Lead management company uses product sales sheets to market their strengths
Fifteen Street Studio jumped in on two assignments from Leads360, a sales lead management company. Product sales sheets are a big part of their marketing strategy and we were able to produce two targeted product sheets with very little turnaround time. One of the advantages of working with us is our responsiveness to our clients. We think you can ask any of them and they will tell you of numerous examples where our quick turnaround helped make their project successful. If you are tired of delays in your marketing and design projects you might want to give us a call.
El Camino College Foundation targets their message to build corporate and business partnerships
Fifteen Street Studio and El Camino College Foundation worked together to develop a strategy to connect with the local corporations and businesses that ultimately will hire many of the graduates of El Camino College in the future. Mark worked closely with the Foundation to clarify their communication objectives and define the message they wanted to put out to the community. This strategic exploration resulted in an 8-page, high-quality, custom-designed brochure with a pocket for mini-brochures from each of the various industries they are targeting starting with a STEM piece, geared to the Science,Technology, Engineering, and Math based companies. The message that El Camino College wants to partner with local industry and the reasons why this is valuable for everyone, was clearly communicated throughout the brochure. The project was completed and met with great reviews which isn't surprising to us because we believe great work comes out of collaboration.
Fifteen Street Studio thinks it's good to do good
Once again we're proud of our association with TIA – Fashion For A Cause and their very successful fundraising efforts to benefit A Place Called Home in Los Angeles. This year they had their most successful event ever, generating over $16,000 during their 4-day sample sale. They sold over 1400 pieces of clothing and merchandise and donated more than 1500 pieces to the APCH community. A Place Called Home is a dynamic, non-profit youth center in South Central LA that provides at-risk youth with educational programs, counseling, mentoring, college scholarships, and after-school activities. Fifteen Street Studio has been supporting TIA since 2010 when we first designed their logo and website. Each year we provide graphic support for their website, outreach and marketing materials pro bono. It's a collaboration we are most proud of. Thank you TIA for having such a positive impact on our community!
Fifteen Street Studio Loves to Letterpress
Many designers pursue some form of art in their spare time just for the fun of it. At Fifteen Street Studio the art of choice is letterpress printing by hand on Vandercook presses. The company that made this type of press was founded by Robert Vandercook in 1909. These cool retro flatbed presses utilize wood type, metal type and digital plates. We love the tactile feeling of the impression created by the raised type as the rollers press the paper against it. Every piece printed is done by hand, one sheet of paper at a time. If you've done any business with us you will have been the recipient of some of our letterpress handiwork because all of our Fifteen Street Studio branded materials including our stationery, folders and notecards have been letterpressed by hand by us. To learn more about letterpress printing you can visit The Bieler Press at bielerpress.blogspot.com or Ladies of Letterpress at ladiesofletterpress.ning.com
Fifteen Street Studio explains why design can make or break your website.
Fifteen Street Studio is often asked why the design of a website is so important. Why not just build a website with online tools or pay a minimal amount for someone to put a site together using a pre-designed template. We've always subscribed to the belief that you only get one chance to make a first impression — so it better be good. When it comes to building a website, this adage is probably the first and most important element to consider. An article from BBC News helps explain why.
Manhattan Beach Chamber works with Fifteen Street Studio to update sponsorship program
Our first efforts with the Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce produced a new brochure for their Sand Dollar Circle Sponsor Program. Staying with the Chamber design guidelines, we created a tri-fold brochure which outlines all the various sponsor options for businesses and individuals. We look forward to future opportunities to work with our local chamber.
Fifteen Street Studio helps El Camino College Honor Distinguished Alumni
It was an honor to work with El Camino College Foundation recently, on their Distinguished Alumni Award Celebration. Fifteen Street Studio was brought into the planning stages in early summer at which point we designed a new logo for the Foundation as well as a logo to represent the award itself. Next came the invitations and program for the prestigious event. For the event itself, we created a PowerPoint presentation that was the backdrop for the evening program and included a video presentation of each of the honorees. The entire evening was a great success and we really enjoyed collaborating on this project with the wonderful people at El Camino College Foundation. ![]() |

Jensen + Partners extends their brand identity to the web with help from Fifteen Street Studio
Having recently redesigned their brand identity, Jensen + Partners had one more task to complete before they were finished. Their website still looked the same as when it was originally designed in 2006. Enter Fifteen Street Studio. Working closely with J+P we were able to design a look that complimented their new identity and expanded on some of the nature imagery metaphors they were using in their other corporate materials. Along with the redesign they had some very specific needs in terms of managing their website content. Fifteen Street delivered a website that was not only unique in its design, but also capable of being completely content managed by their internal staff. In this collaborative effort everyone was proud of the results. You can visit their website at www.jensenpartners.com.
Leonard, Dicker & Schreiber LLP launch new website with the help of Fifteen Street Studio
It can seem like a daunting prospect to create your firm's website for the very first time. Settling on a design, compiling all the needed content in the form of copy, bios and photos, and finally getting everyone on board to approve it. But that is exactly the kind of work Fifteen Street Studio relishes. We rolled our sleeves up with Leonard, Dicker & Schreiber Law Offices to do just that and the results are very impressive. It took a lot of teamwork but the process was very smooth and the end result is awesome if we do say so ourselves. If you're overwhelmed with the idea of creating your first website, talk to us. We can help you get everything up and running smoothly and efficiently. Check out their new website at http://www.ldslaw.com
Fifteen Street Studio helps Lascari's define a new fast/casual niche for their restaurants
How did Lascari's – a Southern California Italian restaurant group with a loyal clientele that's been around since 1970 – expand their family dining restaurants into the fast/casual category? They opened 4 new fast/casual stores and named them Lascari's Cucina. Fifteen Street Studio got involved well in advance of the openings to offer strategic and design solutions for their new website, menu boards, take-out menus and even in-store design. Mark Curran drew on his expertise as the former President of Shakey's Pizza and creator of the Shakey's Cafe concept for the strategic positioning of the new restaurants. Fifteen Street Studio really enjoyed being immersed in all aspects of the visual presentation of the restaurants. If you're feeling hungry for some fast Italian food, stop by Lascari's the next time you're in their neighborhood.

Ffteen Street Studio helps clients navigate the changing landscape of strategic planning
In today’s challenging, ever-changing marketplace, it’s pretty obvious that far too many companies are giving lip service to developing an aggressive, pro-active plan defining the direction they need to take their business. Need proof? Spend a little time browsing the web sites of companies battling in some of the most competitive segments of the market…casual dining restaurants, consumer electronics, hotels/tourism. “Business as usual” is the phrase that comes to mind. Yikes! Get to work, folks. It’s ugly out there.
El Camino College enlists Fifteen Street Studio to create President's Circle Program materials
When El Camino College Foundation decided to expand their fundraising efforts with a high-end brochure designed to appeal to local community leaders, they came to Fifteen Street Studio for help. The compact, 8-page design with a clever pledge card holder is perfect for a handout or for mailing. The use of metallic ink gave the piece a feeling of quality without breaking the budget which was an important requirement for this local community college. The end result was just what they were looking for. Next project: The 56-page El Camino College Foundation Scholarship Program.
